Ian Hay

Bio

Ian Hay (1876-1952), born John Hay Beith, was a Scottish soldier, playwright, and novelist awarded the Military Cross for his service in World War I.  His plays and novels were known for sharp, witty dialogue and an ironic sensibility.  His most famous work is The First Hundred Thousand (1916), based on his wartime experiences.
