Bio
DeLisa D. Hawkes is an Assistant Professor of Africana Studies specializing in African American literature and an affiliate faculty of the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Program at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She is currently working on her first book project, which examines representations of Black and Indigenous relationships in African American print culture and their impact on narratives of racial identity and kinship in the United States.
