David Morrell is the critically acclaimed author of dozens of books ranging in genre, including short story collections and thriller novels. He holds a PhD in American literature from Penn State and was an English professor at the University of Iowa. First Blood, the novel in which the well-known character Rambo was introduced, was published in 1972. His New York Times–bestselling classic spy novel The Brotherhood of the Rose was adapted into a television mini-series. Morrell is a finalist of the Edgar, Anthony, and Arthur Ellis Awards, a winner of the Thriller, Nero, and Macavity Awards, and a three-time recipient of the distinguished Bram Stoker Award. He is also the co-founder of the International Thriller Writers organization.Morrell lives in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
